About the company

LATGRAN SIA is a Latvia-based wood pellets producer focused on producing sustainable biofuel for industrial customers. Our company was founded in 2004. LATGRAN operates 4 factories in Jaunjelgava, Jēkabpils, Krāslava, and Gulbene. All of our production sites are located in rural areas, providing work for more than 120 employees.

LATGRAN is a proud member of Graanul Invest group, the global leader in wood pellet production. Our aim is to continue being the most reliable supplier of pellets for our customers.

We have more than 120 employees producing annually over 600,000 mt of wood pellets, corresponding to 3 000 000 MWh of sustainable energy from CO2-neutral woody biomass.

LATGRAN produced wood pellets

The wood pellets produced in LATGRAN provide sustainable and CO2-neutral fuel for our customers, the major electricity/regional thermal energy producers of Europe, as well as smaller facilities like schools and many other public institutions, industrial facilities, and for agricultural heating applications.

Factory in Jaunjelgava

Jaunjelgava wood pellet factory, opened in 2005, was the first production unit for the company. With continuous modernization the production capacity of the plant has rised close to 15% over years from 80 000 mt to over 90 000. The professional team has 16 members, who keep the production running smoothly 24/7.

Factory in Jekabpils

Our Jekabpils pellet plant was opened on 2008. The highly automated factory can produce more than 170 000 t of pellets per year. The professional team has 26 members, ensuring the plant continuous and fluent operation.

Factory in Kraslava

Kraslava wood pellet factory was built in 2011. The annual production volume is similar to Jekabpils plant, over 170 000 t. The professional team has 25 members. Kraslava pellet plant has one of the smallest transport CO2 footprints in Graanul Invest group as they are connected with the railway. Both the raw materials for production and wood pellets can be transported by train.

Factory in Gulbene

The fourth and the newest pellet plant was opened on 2014, located in Gulbene. The professional team has 28 members. In 2021, the Gulbene production was the highest in LATGRAN, close to 190 000 tonnes per year. Like in Kraslava, Gulbene wood pellets can be transported to the ports by train.
